I am new to the forum so if this is a repeated question I apologize. I just picked up a 1970 14' vhull with a 6hp evinrude outboard about 2 weeks ago for next to nothing. Well I took it out this past Sat. for the first time and it started right up but seemed to be running pretty hard and smoking a bit. I stoppped to check out the rest of the boat and went back to start the outboard and nothing happens, keep trying but nothing. Finally someone saw me and towed me back to the dock. I believe the outboard is around 1993-1995, I can't find a name plate anywhere and the only numbers I have found so far are 336857 and 06236. I am thinking it's a fuel problem but not sure what to do, any help would be greatly appreciated.
