My 6 hp, 4 stroke Mercury about 2004 starts easily, runs fine at idle and at slow speeds but engine will die after running at higher speed after just a few seconds. Sounds to me like it is being starved for fuel. (Vent on fuel tank is open!) Anyone tell me how to test fuel pump as apposed to carb problem. Any other ideas?
Thanks

you need to tee in a vac gauge to be sure your pulling around 2.5- 3 hg at idle
I would think you have the high speed jets clogged up these Jets are So small it is real hard to get them clean. I always soak them in carb cleaner.
