69 StarCraft throttle linkage

My 69 Starchief Mercruiser 120 has experienced some modifications prior to my recent ownership.

The throttle cable was going across the valve cover, starboard to port. Problem with this arrangement is the starboard jump seat was causing the cable to take a route that did not appear to be correct and throttle control was a little challenging.

In the service manual, the cable comes up along the port side of the engine and through sort of linkage connects with the carb.

Could someone with a similar or same post a picture or two of where the cable anchors and how the linkage connects to the carb?

I've searched for images and have come up with a blank. I've tried two different linkage units and neither seem to be the right one, though the latest one, which is mounted and in the pics, seems like it could work if I move the cable mount back.

Anyway, and pics or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,...... I believe you've gotta turn the bell-crank over, so the short linkage connects to the carb,.....

I have the throttle in the off position, which has the cable extended to its furthest point of travel. In actuation, the cable pulls back, pushing the rod up.

In the throttle off position, the rod can not reach the card linkage due to interference from the carb itself (hence the rod just kind of hanging from the bracket).

If I were to move the cable back several inches I might be able to get the linkage to align. But then I have to engineer some sort of anchor point for the cable barrel. This is all possible but seems wrong.

The photo in the Mercruiser manual is helpful to the point that I can identify the triangular shape linkage part. But as to how the rod connects to the carb lever is currently a complete mystery.

All in all, I feel there is more than one thing wrong with this 'picture'.

Any photos I've been able to find are almost exclusively the starboard side of the block it front. I have not found any images of the port side that clearly show a setup that would appear to match my needed configuration.

For the purpose of the photo, I have positioned the actuator rod to be in a relatively close position to where I suppose it would be. It's merely hanging off the carb linkage.

In the current photo, I have the cable hooked with the adjustment barrel all the way forward and even at that there isn't a place to mount it.

Something just isn't adding up. So, I'm hoping there is a pic of this era of linkage somewhere on the interwebs.

Awesome! Thank you Scott. These are two different examples, and by process of elimination I can say neither one of these is what I have.

The mount for the throttle arm/lever is further forward and bolts lower and into the manifold.

But this is very helpful none the less. I guess I am looking for a lever with an elongated lever for the cable connection.
