69 Johnson 9.5 will only run on full choke

i have a 69 johnson 9.5 that was running well until today. I went to run it in a barrel and it will only run on full choke. If i dont have the choke on, It will idle up high and then just die. I removed my carb and everything looked pretty spotless, The float is super old, however. I need to get a new one. Thanks.

Looking at a carb does not mean that it is clean. Clean and rebuild the carb and try again.

Make sure the high speed jet in it is clean and the fuel pump is putting out.
