I'm having trouble finding correct part numbers, or cross ref #'s for steering link, and which cable I should be using. As well for throttle control. Very green when it comes to this so any help would be much appreciated. Motor I'm trying to throttle and steer is a 68' 18hp Evinrude.

The Shop.Evinrude/parts site only goes down to 72' for accessories. I will be trying to find most these parts on ebay/marine junkyards, etc.. Thinking this motor might not have a lot of life left so I don't want to put too much towards this project.

Re: 68' Evinrude Fastwin 18hp Steering

It takes a standard Johnson Ship Master / Evinrude Simplex two lever remote control. Tons of them around.

It was made for cable over pulleys steering. Using a modern push pull cable steering will work but is a compromise. You will need an adapter kit, which one depending on your boat and steering brand.
