I all,

I am helping a friend of mine with a 68 Evenrude Selelelectric system. It runs like a top only problem is we can't seem to get it in forword gear, reverse and neutral work fine.

After reading around here a bit I have learned the green wire should have power in neutral..it doesn't.

Any good spots to start looking at??

It seems as if the prop is stirring the water around pretty good in forward, yet there is no movment of the boat..I don't have a lot of experence with boats but that's normal to churn water alot even tho the engine is in neutral correct?

If anyone knows where I can download or find a wiring diagram of the boats electrical system it would help a bunch.

Welcome boatman!

What is the hp of the engine? There was a couple different set ups for the gear case electric shift depending on the hp. for that year.

At the rear of the cowl there should be a blue and green wire coming up from the lower unit they each have a rubber sleeve covering the connections, one at a time slide the sleeve down and hook a voltmeter to the wire and to ground then with the key on, shift into gear you should have 12 volts on the wire if not try the other gear if still no voltage you have bad switch if there is voltage you have a bad wire or shift coil in the lower unit
