I am in the process of resurrecting my '66 Johnson 33hp, but it will only turn over from the key switch if I jump between the black/white wire at the switch and the small white wired post on the starter side of the solenoid. I have backtracked all the electrics, I cleaned all connections from the motor on back through the junction box and then to the switch. Checked my ground connections, inspected the wiring harness, ran continuity and voltage on all the wires in the circuit, which checked out OK and still can't find a glitch. I even tested the vacuum cutout switch and the safety switch under the flywheel and they both work as they should. I get the same result with other switches and solenoids. I just can't pin down where in the circuit my problem lies. Any ideas short of building a new wiring harness?
