My 1965 Merc Outboard Model 650EL performs very well throughout all speeds; however, after running flat out for a while and returning to trolling speed, I detect a strong fuel smell. There is no smoke and no apparent fuel leaks. This engine exhausts thru the prop hub. Anyone have experienced this problem? Any ideas would be appreciated.
