65hp Johnson powershift 1973 Lower Unit

There's no water going through the engine,so i need to get to the impeler...which means i need to take the lower unit off.Can anyone give me assistance and procedures on how to take lower unit off.

My '72 Johnson 65hp motor has hydro-electric, so its a bit different. For that reason, I'm going to refrain from specific advice on pulling the gearbox, but I do very much suggest that you buy an OMC service manual for it. They are available right here at iboats, and a number of other places.

Trying to service an outboard that you have little or no direct experience with, without an OEM manual, is a good way to create as many problems as you fix.
