I have a Johnson 20hp 1965. I had it running good, but the other day it would not run out like usual. I noticed one of the plugs was fouled so I replaced both of them. Took it back out to the lake and still doing the same thing. Any ideas, also was wondering if there is a fuel adjustment on the motor because I do know it is getting to much fuel. The original owner took the pump off the motor and has ran on an external pump ever since. PLEASE HELP. Thanks

If the motor is a 1956, it is either a 15hp or a 30hp - no 20hp in 1956. Do you have a model number? In any case, could be a coil cutting out and causing your problem. Not sure what you mean by an external fuel pump. A 1956 motor had no fuel pump - ran off a two line pressure tank. Do you mean the PO installed a fuel pump on the motor? Does it have a single line tank now? What else have you done to the motor? Have you cleaned/adjusted the carb?

1956 had a 30 hp. The 20 hp came out years later. The 25 hp was bumped up to 30 hp in 1955. I think you need to post your model number before we can help you.
