Both are 18ft long and both need full restoration. Im not familiar with either boat but from checking out all the pics on this site of the restorations....my opinion is the El Dorado looks better built.

Your thoughts. Im going to take the top off either one and make a center console fishing machine.

Man, hate to see good ole boats hacked to bits, but thats up to you....

The ElDo is built w 50s and 60s engineering the Chief, 70s so not a great 'better built' comparison. Both were (are [see initial statement]) well built, popular [2nd see initial statement reference] boats..

The ElDo is likely heavier both in hull material and construction methods...

Ultimately, best is to decide which hull is in the best overall condition, theres nearly a 15 year gap and even at that the younger is still over 45yrs old.....

Use in less then sound condition is hard on them both, followed by neglect.

Lots more 18ft Starcrafts have been redone and posted here. So the knowledge base would give the nod to the SC...
