did you remove the jets and clean them? does not take much to clog, to cause your problem. when running pump the fuel line bulb, if the motor picks up, then you have a fuel delivery problem. fuel line air leak, bad fuel pump, sticking needle valve in carb, clogged pick up screen in fuel tank, clogged vent on fuel tank. high speed jet is behind the carb bowl drain plug, you need a special tool http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=244013

Re: 60hp 1993 johnson bogging or something

Hi guys
Thanks for the great advice so far still having issues, another $500 down the drain 2 different mechanics with no resolution have cleaned the carbies as you advised all clean
Took for another run still bogging down under load but goes good with myself (Totally Lost).
Just took the coils to Inject-a-carb technition and they advise me (under load their not sparking with a machine, just making a buzzing sound is this true ?) why couldn't the mechanics sought that out $1500.00 dollars gone, they told me that placing an outboard in a tub of water was called under load (unbelievable) is this true ?
so now I'm waiting for $120-150 to grow from my tree (coils 3 x $40ea) at one place and $48ea at the other (highway robbery is that normal)
"they have taken the family enjoyment out of it
They told me $450 to take in on the water for a load test

(paper work stated load test done - ok
all carby set - 4 turns
Advance timing - good)

Cheers

If it runs good with just you aboard, and bogs down with more people, then it sounds like a weight issue. What is your prop pitch? Maybe you need a lower pitch prop?????? How big of a boat is it?

Do the compression test your self. All sparkplugs out, ignition off, engine should turn at least 4 times. You are looking for about 120 psi. Compression good.

Check all power pack and bracket ground wires, pack bracket bolts must be tight.
Check pack wires for bare spots.

You and mate should team up, buy manual some tools, DIF.
