It's fine. The noise I hear in the engine compartment is the new fuel pump. The noise from the drive is just the helical gears whining as it winds down because it is unloaded and out of the water. I'm actually out on the lake right now and it's perfect. I talked to the mechanic and he had already listened to my video and is pretty sure that's what it was. After driving and I agree, it does not make that noise out here.
False alarm I guess. I swear I don't remember that whining but driving around in the lake it's fine it doesn't sound any different or feeling any different.
Never heard that noise from any outdrive before. Bravos may be different but I dont think so. surprised a mechanic would not take a look.

He said it's pretty common on these. He's he's backed up until August so he feels like it's pretty good and he is confident of his work so I'm going to roll with it. He's a very well thought of mechanic around here, and I am in the car repair business and I can tell when somebody knows what they're talking about.

If it was a noise in the engine I wouldn't ask anybody because I would know, but I don't know much about boat drives.

Going to roll with it so I guess we'll find out this summer

Sounds like the upper, gimbal, or u-joints. Remove the drive as a start.
