5hp Mariner 1999 2-stroke non-return valve hose on crankcase

Hi All

Finally got the bits I bought in a box all assembled. The only thing left is the small hose with a non return valve built-in that goes on the crankcase. Does anyone know which way around the hose goes? My manual makes no mention of it

Installed with valve on top of crankcase, been running for 4 hrs now and seems fine
