I have great power from the motor, the prop will engage in forward and reverse, however, the prop will stop if I go faster than a crawl, same with reverse, any ideas? I already changed the lower end hypoid oil.

Does it actually stop turning, or is it slipping and not letting the boat pick up speed?

Did you take the prop off and check the shear pin? Or are you saying that it actually pops out of gear?

could be a broken shear pin, or a spun prop. With the engine turned off, put it in gear and see if you can turn the prop by hand. If you can turn it by hand, look to see if the hub turns too. If the hub turns with the prop, (but not the prop shaft) then it is likely to be the shear pin. If the hub doesn't turn when the prop turns, then the hub is no longer connected to the prop (the hub is connected to the prop by a pressed rubber fitting, they are prone to failure when they get old).
