58 johnson fwd gear

i seemed to have lost fwd gear I even unhooked control lines and tried to manually hold lever into position but it seems to want to buck and grind it was working fine but then started acting up i also still have reverse just fine<br />oops this is a 35hp sea horse on a 58 wizard 16ft<br />thanx for any help

Cant tell you exactly whats going on. Educated guess sounds like youve got a serious problem in the gearcase.If youre up to it get a manual and take a look. <br /> Good luck.

Sounds like you may have lost a lug or two off the shift clutch. I'm with Spike - get a manual (your local library might even have a general service manual) and dig in!<br />- Scott
