you can also get some parts from Sierra Marine through local NAPA dealers. You can get ignition and carb kits from them

marineengine.com offers many items back to 1956

I highly recommend Marineengine.com, good service and quick

I'd also suggest www.vintageoutboards.com, they sell rebuild kits which will save you $$ and trouble compared to buying it piecemeal from marineengine.

When your rebuild the carb make sure to buy a new float... they don't normally come with the carb rebuild kits.

If you look in the "Top Secret Files" on the top thread of this forum, you will find a list of salvage yards. A lot of these places listed in there will sell new parts too, so that will open up a huge possibility for you. If nothing else, go to www.aomci.org and sign up. Bunches of members are willing to help out those who want to fix up classics, such as yours.

Haven't gotten much done with it except a little more cleaning ... including the inside of the tank. Glad I did that, there was quite a bit of junk in there.

Probably gonna' take a crack at it this weekend and see if we can figure out what's going on.

... bummer. Monkeyed around with it today. Absolutely NUTHIN' from a little pullin' on the cord. She didn't even sputter.

I did find a couple holes in the fuel line incoming from the tank. So it'll be pretty basic trouble shootin' from here out.

That tank with the metal plunger looks to be a 1954 through 56, and judging by the remnants of the decals I would say it is a 1954/55. It will make a difference when you buy the gaskets for your rebuild.

Your motor definitely is a 1957. You can find reproduction 1957 medallions on e-Bay. I bought 2 from a seller that claimed they were NOS prototypes. I doubt that and I really don't care, they look great and that is what counts.

Okay - blowin' the dust off of this topic :)

I pulled the motor and monkeyed around some lookin' - pokin' - checkin' ...
  • Compression check is good
  • Fuel bowl is broken - looking for a replacement
  • I think the coils will need replaced, but not sure
  • I think the pressure tank is actually good as is, but need to replace the lines
I can't find a place to confirm part numbers though. I haven't found anything in the stickies either ... what am I missing here guys?

No Title

easy to convert to modern pumps ( pumps are $15-25$) ...you also need a single hose side connector (beg borrow buy )

pump pulsing can be gotten from the air nipple behind the carb see you utube
this pump pict is on a 5.5 hp the 7.5 has cyl covers you can tap

browse the internet utube for more info if you wish to convert to a modern pump
https://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=j...39782543,d.eWE

 I converted a 5.5, 7.5. 10 and a 15 with different pump type with no issues

on the 5.5 I did the air nipple behind the carb solution the rest were done by tapping in a side cover but you need to pump the pump where it won'T interfere with spacing or the mechanical operation inside the cowl

If the tank works, I would try to get the motor up and running with the pressure tank. The motor will need magneto work (coils/points/condensers), and the impeller should be replaced as a first step. (The AD-11 probably needs the powerhead removed to release the shift shaft, in order to remove the lower unit, and will have a spring assembly at the top of the driveshaft -- good to have a parts diagram. If there is no access port on the side of the leg, it's a model requiring powerhead removal for water pump service.)

You can always convert to a fuel pump after the motor is known to be in good running shape.

As best I can remember - and this thing's been stored up a while - it worked without any real issue when it was put up. I believe the tank is holding pressure just fine, so I think I'll stay with that as is (just replace the line for the time being). I've got a parts diagram - but no part numbers (or ways to figure the number out). That's what I can't seem to find.

I've got a couple of feelers out to some antique outboard shops.

If you ask over at the Antique Outboard Club's Ask-A-Member forum, somebody over there probably will fix you up with a parts list.

^^^ LOL :D - I went to bed last night after looking through that book for probably about 30 minutes wondering, "how the heck am I missing the part numbers!?!"

Thanks though - there's some really good stuff in there.
