Does it really take 7 days for 5200 cure? I was wanting to bolt the new transom in on Friday and go out on the lake for a test run Saturday or Sunday.

Also for a boat that will be trailered do I really need to use 5200 to seal around the transom bolts or will plain old silicone work?

I am replacing the transom in my Blue Star.

Thanks
Chuck

there are 2 versions... the regular 7 day cure, and "fast cure" 24 hour cure. Use the fast cure... Also, I'd use 4200 if your talking about sealing the bolts for mounting the motor. I think it's more of a straight sealant, and less of an adhesive than 5200. 4200 also comes in the regular and fast cure varieties.

Others probably know more about these things than me, but this is my $.02

From what i understand 5200 is basically permanent and stuff you glue will stick for good. 4200 stays flexible. I think you may want to use 4200 not 5200 in case you ever want to remove that outdrive.

I will take the 5200 back and get the 4200 fast cure that they had. I am sealing the bolts that hold transom board in place. So eventually I will have to remove them to rereplace the transom.

Thanks

I would keep a tube of both 4200 and 5200 on hand as you never know when you'll need it and the store is closed or out of stock.
