I just purchased my first vintage 50s johnson 10HP motor. The look is awesome and I just needed to get my own.
So my excitment of finding one local may have caused me a big rookie mistake. I was unable to locate the model # when I purchased it. But talking the guy down to $100 and I was willing to gamble. After getting it home I noticed that the LU was painted black covering up the Blue.... suggesting to me it is a swapped out LU from a evinrude??? Does this sound correct. Will this cause any problems?
Now then the paint scheme on the hood suggests to me that it is a 58 and a few other hints... It does have the connector for the dual fuel line and the cool metal hood. The biggest hint to me is it does have the kill button on the front. So I think this narrows it down to the 58. Can anyone else suggest a tell tell sign?
