Hello. I have an early 80's Mercury 50hp 2 stroke outboard and the top carb appears to be squirting fuel out of some sort of jet next to the inlet side of the carb. I'm not sure what this jet is but it certainly doesn't seem normal to do this. Can anyone advise what this jet is for and why this might be happening? I've attached a photo here for illustration. Thanks.

Ok I'll take them apart and have a look. I've already disassembled them and cleaned everything so maybe the float needle isn't sealing.
After looking at the parts diagram, it looks like its the economizer jet. Not sure how these work, but if the needle valve isn't sealing properly maybe it can back up and come out of this jet? Does that make sense?
