50hp Force running poorly after falling

Hi I have a '85 50hp Force motor. Back in August I was pulling the boat from the lake and it bounced up and fell down and slammed against the boat. The next time I put it in the lake, it was very hard to start and would only start if I give it a lot of throttle. If I did get it into gear it would run very poorly and even if I gave it full throttle it would still go slow. I am thinking there is some rust that was knocked loose and got caught caught in the carb. I have replaced the fuel pump diaphragm and the problem is still there. Does this sounds like something carb-related or is it something more serious? Thanks.

Yes, clean your carb, pay close attention to the float adjustment.
