Hi everyone,
I currently have a 87 Evinrude 50 HP motor that I am looking to convert to premix. The reason I am doing this is because Ive heard the oil pumps can fail. It has the stock VRO pump and I was wondering what exactly I have to do to bypass the oil pump. How is the pump ran? from vacuum or off motor? What steps do I need to do and what should I run the premix at? Thank you in advance

Cut the oil delivery line and leave about two inches outside the lower cowling. Stick a bolt into the cut off oil line and clamp it. There is a "single wire" rubber connector laying in the bottom of the pan that has a tan wire wire running through it. Disconnect that rubber connector and leave it laying in the pan. Remove your oil reservoir and line. Pre-mix your fuel at 50:1 and you're good to go.

Got one more question. The wire that I need to disconnect, which tan wire is it? the thicker gauge one?
