50 HP kill switch problems, PLEASE HELP

I have a 2000 Johnson 50HP and I can't figure out what is going on with it. Was running fine one day then stopped running. I just got it so I figured I would pull the carbs and clean them. While doing so, I found a bad fuel line. I figured this was my problem. Put everything back together and while I was adjusting the carbs, it stopped giving me spark. I checked everything I could think of and figured it was the powerpack, but wasn't sure so I took it to a local guy who said it was indeed the powerpack. Well, I put that in and it started and ran for a few seconds, then no spark. I after reading thru tons of forums, I decided to check the kill wire (black w/ yellow stripe). I unhooked it from the powerpack and it starts right up, but kills it if I put it back in. So next I check the controller wire harness with my Ohm meter and the kill wire goes to 0 Ohm?s. (not sure if this proves the harness is good or not) Then I replace the key switch and still no spark with kill wire plugged in. I put it in forward and it will not turn the engine over, so I assume the neutral safety switch is good. And I was told that the key switch has the lanyard switch built into it. Please help, any suggestions would be appreciated. I have family in town and would love to take them out on the water.

It was/is your kill switch w/lanyard. Somebody owes you a powerpack.

So you have found that the Kill switch is bad. I had to replace mine. they get cracked and will close. You can get them here On Iboats, or if you need it sooner your BRP dealer will have them. Simple install in the controls.

Where is the Kill switch located? What does it look like? I am looking at the wiring diagram and can't see to find it. Thanks for the quick replies!
