5.7 carb angle and cooling

I have a boat that has had a pair of 5.7 bluewaters dropped into it, it was a basket case. The carbs are on an angle with a wedge causing this so I suspect the boat it came oout of was not a v drive like mine. Will this angle affect the boats performance? If I pull the wedge out it will create other problems such as choke connection etc. It also appears that it was a closed system for coolant and it seems to have been converted to lakewater cooling now, anything I should look for?

thanks Dave

Sure the wedge will cause running problems. A carb needs to be close to level for best results. The wedges are for engines that set at steep angles on straigt inboards.
Take the wedges out and install electric chokes or just run without the chokes. A 350 will start fine without a choke, just pump the throttle an extra time or two and let it warm up.
No reason to part with the closed cooling system just because you are in fresh water. I would keep it.

thanks Don, the heat exchanger is missing on both (if it ever had them) so I have to go with the fresh water cooling thing, do you think the engines will start with the wedge still in? I am ordering new gaskets for the carbs today to be able to pull the wedges, but I am trying to see if they at least run for today.
