Im sorry Im not that familiar with that model but in neutral do you have a rev limiter of sorts? If not, tone down the throttle a bit abd see what happens, you may be just temporarily flloding it. -woody74

that's the pther problem i have, i don't have the spring to hold the timing base still whileit's at half throttle, it just jumps around

how do you set the timing on this engine other than the points

OK, sounds like a "link n sink" but check this first. When you pull the cowling off try turning the flywheel by hand and see if you can tell if the coils are hitting the flywheel a little. Whe the throttle is at WOT and you turn this slowly then the throttle should stay put and not follow the flywheel. I hope I'm not being aggravating, just stuff that has driven me crazy in the past. -woody74

i cannot feel it hitting at all but like i said i don't have the spring to hold it still. it does try to follow the flywheel because of the magnets

I only know the points method but there is a good link on this forum for that. I cant recall it at the moment but you can find it in one of my old desperate posts in the forums logs. Can you not fabricate a spring for now. Seems that stiffer would be better.
