I rebuilt the carb with a Sierra carb kit. Not much improvement. Then, pressed for time, I bought a carb from an online carb shop that offered marine carbs too. I had a lot of trouble getting the "new" carb to run right. After hours of adjusting (on the water), phone calls to carb shop, it finally ran "pretty good". Son in law with family took the boat out (I was not there). Engine stalled and they had to be towed. I phoned Cliff. He had many comments about my decisions. I bought a carb rebuild kit from him. Cliff's gaskets were much thicker (one of my issues was thinner Sierra base gasket allowed carb to get too hot and vapor lock. Engine is running like new again. Got a refund on the on-line carb. Will always buy carb rebuild kits from Cliff.
Thanks for everybody's comments!

there is so much chit out there is rebuilt/new carbs and kits... hence why its worth doing it yourself. As said earlier in thread Cliff is the guy for quadrajets, Mikes is good too. Both sell quality kits but unfortunately no longer rebuild carbs.

An ultra sonic cleaner does wonders as well. Have used it with berrymans, simple green (to keep the finish on the carb), and this weekend I used 30% vinegar in it. Friends snow blower had corrosion in the carb from water/ethanol. the vinegar worked great but probably stripped the plating off the stamped fuel bowl...

Cliff's parts are good, I have used them and also parts from Quadrajetparts.com
Cliff has warned many times, do not buy a reman Qjet from these on line retailers, they are often Franken-carbs that are cobbled together from a number of parts bins and rarely if ever are calibrated for your engine. Either rebuild your OEM carb, or buy a new Edelbrock or Holley!
If you have a good Qjet core, then clean it as best you can and use good parts and take your time.
Cliff has a special accel pump link that makes it easier to remove the air horn because you don't have to knock back that roll pin by the accel pump lever.
Pay attention to float height, the positioning of the clip for the float on the float arm and make sure the idle air tubes are clean as you can get them.
You also must use the thick base gasket, the thin ones will cause vapor lock.
If you are stuck with E10 fuel, I would recommend using an outboard tank with a few gallons of E0 fuel in + stabilizer to winterize the engine.
If you have replaced a fuel pump, might be a good idea to check the pressure if you have flooding problems, some produce too much pressure. Should be around 5-7 psi, 6 is ideal.
