The water pressure reading on my Smartcraft fluctuates from 8 - 20 PSI at Idle up to 3000 RPM. I drove the boat yesterday and today for over an hour each time and the engine temp never exceeded 158 degrees. No overheating issues at all. When I shut the boat off and just turn the key to the right without starting the engine (Engine not running), the water pressure still reads the same 8 - 20 PSI. Is it possible this is just a faulty water pressure sensor?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

What do you mean by common problem? Bad sensor?
These water psi sensors are sometimes problematic at times.

Though it should go to 0 psi with the engine off, key on. You could first try removing it, inspecting and cleaning and even testing it's ohms value to see if helps any. Being it's staying in range, it shouldn't create any fault codes which is a good thing honestly so it doesn't sound a warning horn on you while out boating.

You could also try unplugging it just to see if there's a change in reading. It ought to sound a warning horn but will turn the horn off once plugged back in.
