5.0 mercuiser only makes loud "CLICK" sound when turning key

Ok, 1 last question {I hope} , got the starter out, did a bench test. The gear jumps out into place, but it only spins like every 4-10th test, much like how many times I have to turn the key before it cranks. I'm guessing I need a new starter , correct ?

don't know the inside workings but maybe a rebuilder close to you or may be able to find a new one on ebay at the right price.have a browse and make sure you get the correct one.
