Re: 5.0 merc efi, fouling plugs, missing, and more
Hi guys, I have a new problem now still related to this thread.
I pulled the outdrive, regreased the u-joints, installed new seal and gasket kit, new exhaust bellow, reinstalled out drive, and no oil or water is leaking now.
But, everything runs well on the ear muffs, so I decided it was finally time for a water test. I backed it into the lake and did not start it so I could watch for any water leaks at the transom.
Everthing looked fine, so I started it up and had it idling again looking for leaks and sure enough there's water trickling down from the steering assembly, or so it seems anyway. It's difficult to pinpoint with everything so crowded in there, but the leak I could visually see was above the u-joint bellows. Further to that, the motor stalls after a minute of idling in the lake. I am going to shove a stick of dynamite up those bellows pretty soon.
Something is leaking at the transom, and the motor dies when its in the water. Anyone seen this before??
