I have a 1983? 4hp Johnson outboard boat motor. I bought the motor last year and just replaced the water impeller at the beggining of the season. I put it on my boat and tested it out on a river today and the engine boggs down and dies when I go to turn around a bend. Any suggestions as to what might be causing this? What should I do?<br />

Is the fuel line getting kinked?

I am pretty sure the fuel line is not getting kinked because when I put the throttle a little higher it still boggs down but doesn't quite die. It is a possibility though. I will look next time I get it out on the water.

Could be the float in the carb is sticking or may require adjustment, if it's bogging on those hard turns. I'd tear it down and check it out and clean it while you have it apart if the other suggestions fail...
