Wondering if it is possible for a manual unit to be swapped out with an automatic. In other words, does the automatic part fit the same transom bracket of a manual tilt/trim? Any advice or problems I should know about?

I bought a 1989 88 hp Evinrude without t & t. I did some research in the parts catalogs to see what style I needed,
and bought a t & t unit and the relay box on Ebay. It bolted right on, and I also bought a shifter with the t & t switch on it on ebay. I think the total was just shy of $475. The boat suppliers, Bass Pro, Cabelas, west marine sell a CNC or
CMC unit that you can bolt between your motor and the transom to add t & t for about $500-$600 for your size motor. Which way you go is determined on whether you can do your own work. Good luck, I hope this helps:rolleyes:, John

I'd go with the CMC. Easy to install.

Excuse my ignorance but what exactly is a CMC or CNC unit? Does it replace the broken trim/tilt? Is it manual after installed?
