470 "Mystery Carb"

I have a new to me 1984 3.7L 470.Engine Serial # is 6738510 I can't seem to find anything out about this carburetor from the numbers on it. When I look at the numbers on it I was assuming it was a 1983 model seeing that the engine is a 1984. That would make sense,right? When I Google Mercarb 06080A-1 it comes up with an Accelerator Pump Rod for a 1993 4.3 V-6. This is the only number I can find on the carb so that is what I have to go off of. This makes me think this is a 1993 model carb for a 4.3L V-6. I am starting to think that the prior owner had put the wrong carb on this engine. I have another thread titled" 470 Has me Stumped "to explain the issues I am having. If it is the wrong carb, what are my options? Buy a new carb or is it possible just to re-jet this one or something? Any help is greatly appreciated. ThanksCONFIG]166819[/ATTACH]

It ia not a mystery to me. I will give you the same answer I did before : If your accelerator pump looks like this: http://www.mercruiserparts.com/showSpecialPicture.asp?pn=96551 then you have the newer Mercarb like this: http://www.mercruiserparts.com/showSpecialPicture.asp?pn=860071A2 Isuspect the number you are looking at is the part number of the carb body. The carb itself should have an ID tag under one of the carb screws, it may be missing. It is not the wrong carb! The accelerator pump does look like that. So I should be ok?

Yes sir! That is exactly the same carb that I have on my 470.

Ok thanks Terry! I feel better now. I just picked up Sierra Marine rebuild kit 18-7076. I hope this is correct.
