470 Merc charging system conversion

I have a guy thats looking for the brackets to update the charging system for the altenator..
I noticed the Sierra-Napa book shows a kit.
Anyone know what these kits cost? Napa wanted near 500 bucks..
Must be a less expensive route..

Just wanted to brag about my conclusion for the merc 470 charging system.
I had made my own brackets, picked up a belt at kregans.
65AMP alt.. rewired it to a 1 wire setup. and disconnected the stator system
and it works flawlessly.
Cost: roughly $60
forget paying the 250$ + for kits.

I'm happy with my setup.

i have a 1980 Larson 17 footer with this merc 470 pushing 170 hp.
got a 25 pitch prop and i cruze at 38mph.

I pull my buddies on the tube no problems once so ever.
and we're talking about big guys flying at 30+MPH

got questions, drop me an email. All i can do is give you pictures of my setup and if your a handie man you can do the same as I.
