I have a boat that the floor was beginning to get a little tender on a section of about 4' x 2'. The section of the floor is just to the port side of the I/O and runs from the transom toward the front about 4 feet.

I was going to do it myself but I'm pressed for any free time for the next few weeks.

Is this a reasonable estimate?

$450 to start, $2500 to finish. I'll bet $$ that if it's soft there there's more wrong. Problem is that there's no way to know 100% until it's opened up.

-Roger

Chances are that if your deck has rot, all the wood below decks is rotted too. $450 would be barely enough to buy the resin you need for a job like that, forget the wood glass and other materials.
As CCrew says "$450 to start, $2500 to finish."
I'll tell you what, after all the time and money I spent redecking my boat, I think someone would have to pay me $2500 to do the same to their boat, and then I'd still have to think about it..............

H90

Re: $450 Estimate

You guys know how to make somebody feel warm and cozy. HAHAHAH. J/K. I had a feeling that something worse was in store for me. I'm going to let the guy do whatever he needs to do and I'm sure he'll find more as he cuts through the deck. I was recommended to this fiberglass place by about 8 people. One of the instructors in my USCG class does this type of thing too so I'll talk with him about it first. He's a boat builder.

Thanks for the responses. Now I know to expect the worst.
