I have a few questions about my Johnson outboard, like where to buy parts and determing the year if i could get some feed back please either post

Post your model and serial number and we can tell you what you need to know. If its a 1942 then the model number should be TS-15.

I think it is a TD-15 because it has the automatic pull rope return. And im not close to it right now but where would i be able to find the spring to pull the rope back in to the housing? And thank you for your reply.

Yes it would be a TD-15. The spring is available from your Johnson/Evinrude dealer part number BRP 395460 or aftermarket as Sierra 18-6501 available right here at iboats.

You have a prewar version of the famous TD20. Yours is probable silver or dull aluminum in color. TD20's are a light silvery green or "Sea Mist" green. Great motors, lots of them still around.You can get lots of info here: http://www.aomci.org/
