Just picked up a pontoon that has a 40 hp force on it. Problem is the serial number/year sticker is missing and I need to order an impeller for it. Any other way to determine what year it is? Also in the attached pictures the wire shown, where does it attach? And other picture where does the cylinder thing attach? Thanks.

The wire may be for overheat warning.-----The cylinder thingy is the ENRICHER.----Used instead of choke flappers.----It does not need to be attached to anything.

Yup, on both. The wire isn't attached to anything for the high temp warning so need to know where it goes? Any idea on figuring out the year?

1992-1994 used the old gearcase and prop style, like this:

1995 thru 1999 used the Mercury gearcase, with prop tab and nylock nut, like this:

Roscoe thanks! Looks like it's probably the same year as the boat then, which is a 1993. Appreciate the help .

Lol, thanks. That's what I'm trying to figure out! Can't find it on the schematics, and can't see where it goes to in pictures of this outboard.

Check the buss bar where the harness hooks to the motor harness.
It might be cut off ?
Tan wire, I think??

If the wire has the end? post a pic?
The wiring harness from the dash should have a lead that connects to the wire,
It's possible it was cut or someone taped it back?
From the part I see(parts list) the wire should have a wire with a plug in connector?
