just bought a new project and im having some strange issues with this engine.
i have spark, i have compression (a little low at 105psi each and every cylinder)
fuel is getting to the carbies.
only odd thing ive noticed is that it doesnt seem that the plugs are getting wet.....
the engine turns over well with the starter motor but it doesnt even attempt to cough splutter or start!

i thought maybe the reed valves are blocked.... but it wouldnt have compression then would it?
when i put my palm over the carbies while cranking i can feel it sucking air.

when i stop cranking alot of fuel spills out of the carbies.

any ideas?

but it primes up well and fuel doesnt leak out of the carbs while your primming the bulb?

and i emptied a can of aero start down the carbs while cranking it and it didnt even try to kick.

carbies are still in the back of my mind though, so i might strip them just for the sake of rulling them out.

thanks for the reply mate

thanks for the heads up on that (should have stuck with 4 strokes by the look of my luck)

but that proves another point in my issues doesnt it. why the heck wouldnt it even try and start with aero start down its throat?

everyone keeps telling me how the reed valves last forever, but it kinda makes sense no? fuel doesnt seem to be getting to the spark plugs (as they are always dry)
its not trying to start at all. is there anything in the symptoms that rules out faulty reed valves?

thanks again

(wishing i was on the water)

Take a stray bottle and put some fuel into the cylinders through the spark plug holes. The fuel mix from the carb go through the crank case as well as the intake and yes you may have stuck reeds while rare it has been known to happen.

It is more than likely that the floats and needle valve is stuck and not letting fuel into the carbs. Spray some directly into it and see if it fires.
And make sure you have spark to.
