40 HP MERC. YEAR ? Help - please -

I recently acquired a 40 hp Mer. but no one can tell me the year. I need to know so I can order the correct repair manual. Outboard Serial is #3864219. I am quessing somewhere in the 1970's. Thanx for any help.

I'M SORRY IT IS A 1974. THEY START AT<br />3859435 AND YOURS IS A 3864219 WHICH MAKES<br />A 1974 SORRY<br />REX A.HUBBLE
