I took the 80 horse V4 off my boat (16ft. SS). Had a change of heart about running it as I want to run my kicker off my transom and there was not enough room. I was offered a honey of a motor. Its a old 1962 evinrude 40 horse lark Iv that is all re sealed and tuned etc. Will that be enough motor to get up on plane you think? Im not worried about pulling anyone or speeding as i am just a fisherman. But I dont want to plow water either. Your thoughts?

The SS is a bit bigger hull then my 15' Jet, but a 40 pushes me along at 31 mph by my gps. Id guess it should move you along pretty well.

Should have no trouble getting you on plane, just won't be a speedster.

Thats what I was hoping for. I guess about 20 mph give or take. I am picking it up tomorrow and should have it on and wired up by Sunday. Lookin to be on the water with it for first time within two weeks. If this boat is half as good on the water as my old Jet I will be a happy camper
