Yea, we had a couple killed from Ft. Campell the other day.
One was a gunner in a turrett in a hummer. They hit a landmine and it overturned into a building. Guess which part hit the building.
He was 23 and left a wife and 2 small children.
Like DJ, they are heros.

They did have an interesting article about military deaths in the Republic this week. It seems more men have died in motorcycle accidents after returning home than all that have died in the war itself.

not suprising you get home from overthere and your cup size swells 3 sizes. Makes you more likely to do something stupid. I mean ride beyond your ability.

None have died in Iraq that didn't go to Iraq.

That is the only stat that matters.

today's Arizona Republic (2/10/06) has a short article in the valley & state section, and a blurb in section A where military deaths are tracked.

It was a nice article.

as for the motorcycle crash comparison, if you mean not many are being killed, then maybe you are right no big deal

UNLESS IT IS YOUR LOVE ONE.

I mean there are a lot of ways to die. Most threats are claiming far more lives than the war itself. It's important to respect the lives of our servicemen, while keeping the losses in perspective.

Personally I would rather my son die in combat than in a traffic accident. (He's in the Air Force, but already finished his desert tour of duty.)

they are all hero's.
not just the ones who die, the ones who had the balls to sign up to serve whether they got sent over or not,
only folks with daddy connections get to pick where they go and if they show up. the rest of us got handed orders and in somecases plane, train or buss tickets.
not like me and those I served with got to have much say in the travel orders.

Amen Rodbolt and I guess having lived the hell of VN is the basis of my feeling toward GW every time he plays soldier, whether it is a jet fighter ride, wearing a flight jacket, or saluting like this week at Mrs. King's funeral. Sorry gang he ain't been never will be a soldier.

I also feel that anyone under the age of 35, yes you can enlist up to 35 now, that supports the war in Iraq should sign up or shut up.

This is not a TV show people are dying and getting maimed over there. If you see those coming back with limbs missing up close and personal maybe you would revisit if we should be there.

TXwinner
is it me or does it seem those that beat the war drums the loudest seem to have never served?
maybe its just me.
but all our military are heros to me.
all those before me,with me and since me.
its a tough decision that I wish some of our fearless chickenhawks had more knowledge of.

If you are for abortion you should get pregnant and then abort it, just to prove you are "for" it?

If I donate to the local firefighters fundraiser instead of quitting my job and becoming a firefighter, then I don't believe in their mission?

In order for me to support the troops, I have to be one?

If we don't do these things, then we should "shut up" huh?

No news flash here, your reasoning makes no sense.

If you don't support the war, quit your job, leave your family, move to DC, and fight against it every day.... or just shut up.

Re: "4 servicemen died in Iraq" UPDATE

Nobody yet has been sent to Iraq that didn't volunteer for the job. Anybody with any sense knows what the job of the armed forces is. And anyone naive enough to join the Reserves/Guard thinking it is to fill sandbags on the levee or earn school money will have a hard time making the case for being tricked. A lot of quality young men and women have stepped forward and said, "We want to do this" and continue to step forward despite the boo birds and nay sayers. God bless them and their families.
