I bought a 4 hp 2 stroke merc motor. I started it and it ran only at high speed and water pump would not work. I replaces the water pump kit and it worked fine, motor ran but still high speed. I shut it down, and tried to restart, and it wont start, I cleaned carb,, checked reedblock put on new gaskets. has good compression. and points are set at .020. turning motor over with drill good spark. But if I spray gas/oil in carb, no fire at all. It uses what to me is an odd spark plug. electrode in center and jumps to base,, as I assume it should. good blue spark. but it will not fire at all.
I have vacuum through carb( pulls cloth into carb) but still nothing,. If I put gas/oil in cylinder. Still no fire. What am I missing.,, im stumped.
