I'm just finishing a top end rebuild on a 1996 4.3L Vortex, ran into some problems today putting it back together just wanting to make sure I haven't messed up before I start it up tomorrow. I had valve job done and ordered a gasket kit from local boat store. After putting heads back on we went to install intake gasket and found out they were for a 12 bolt instead of 8 bolt intake, so I called my local parts store and they had a set of 8 bolt gasket and we used them. Finally getting to my question, being that the intake gaskets were incorrect, could the headgasket have been wrong, it looked like that all the holes lined up correct and the local parts store said he only showed one head gasket for a 4.3L Vortex, my other question is should the intake gasket be fine since it was for a car engie instead of a boat??
