Alright. I did have a call out to pick one up, which I can do tomorrow, but there like $178.00. Is it possible to get one that from Advanced Auto or Napa. I found them on amazon for like 40, but id prefer to have it immediately.
@alldodge , Is the water pressure switch a simple open/closed 2 wire or is it a 3 wire switch? Should be able to test either way before replacing. Can someone post a wiring diagram (or point me to the correct manual--newest I have for a 4.3 is #25, dunno if it covers this system).

Its a 3 wire resistor type. Grn, 5V and sensor

Its a 3 wire resistor type. Grn, 5V and sensor
Im gonna look further into it. $178.00 is pretty steep for the switch

Won't help much but mercruiserparts has it for 168
Walmart for 152

At 20 something for aftermarket, I might have to try it once

I also found a small leak coming from the remote oil filter. Looks like its leaking out the sides. Is it possible to have too much oil pressure? If so what could cause that?

No, just needs to tighten up

Installed water pressure switch. Alarm still sounded at 2000 rpm’s

Bummer, really need a scanner, otherwise were guessing.

Your boat has 2 oil pressure senders, 1 for the gauge and one for the ECM and they do not talk to each other. The gauge can read ok, but the ECM might see low pressure.

I'm still puzzled by the motor dying when the in gear switch is disconnected

Disconnecting either (or both) switches, in-gear and shift interrupt, shouldn't kill the engine, or even stop it being started.

And 1200Ω for a switch???? Should be either 0Ω or open circuit..

Something odd going on here.

I think I'm biting the bullet and bringing it to my buddy to have him scan it tomorrow morning. Aggravating knowing this is still happening and not having a code provided to my vesselview.

Hey Chris, I think I definitely did that wrong and will be trying it again tomorrow morning. I would love your insight on how to correctly do it so I know I am doing it right. The one plug as stated before when I disconnected it, the engine wouldnt turn over and start and when I did pull it, it made the engine die

Last sensor I can check is the oil pressure sender for the ECM. I bought one but it was the wrong size.

1012-24: Engine or drive trim position. The input circuit for the sensor is above the valid limit.

1031-25: Steering position. THe input circuit for the sensor is below the valid limit.

701-24: Level sensor tank A. The input circuit for the sensor is above the valid limit.

451-25: Pitot Pressure. The input for the sensor is below the valid limit
Yeah. You just block those ones. Did you sign up and log in to the Mercury thing ? You only get basic fault info if you don’t. But further to that even, if you speak to a dealer near you…then select them as your “preferred dealer” on the map (when it comes up with the dealers near you, press on the dealer and it shows a tick sign), then they can actually log into your vessel view and tell you more detail and specifics. Here is an example from one of my engines that the dealer sent me recently. It has the usual faults that aren’t relevant, but also an underlying shift interruption switch error still there too.

Ok. Just read the rest of what has been mentioned just recently. So just to be clear. Is it that it is limiting to 2000 rpm or so when you rev it in neutral ? Or when in gear and underway? Because these 4.3 mpi have an rpm limiter in neutral that won’t allow you to Rev the engine above a capped rpm. It’s around or just over 2000 rpm or close. Can’t remember, but that age of mpi 4.3 definitely won’t Rev above a certain revs for sure, in neutral.

I did. My newest issue is finding the serial number for the engine cause it did not recognize it and adding it to vesselview.
