Alright here is my question, I am trying to get a boat running and that has been sitting for a while, i just had the carb rebuilt and done, I am putting back on, 1998 model with eletric choke, for the life of me i cant recall what wire goes where, I thought there was a total of 2 wires a ground that goes on the bottom of the choke assembly, and a purple wire that hooks on to the termnal. Then i see another one with a male flat spade and can not find where it goes. The boat used to turn over before i did any of this now all i get is the clicking from the starter. and the battery is fully charged. any help would be great i am sure its something simple. Thanks

Re: 4.3L Carb Question

Boat is a 1997 Rinker, not sure on the serial number at work right now. I am totally mind boggled on this, i am sure its something so simple, on the bundle of wires that breaks off and goes to the eletric choke and the ground for it there is another wire, flat male type connector, it only has about three inchs of play so i know it goes some where are there, or maybe it isnt even used in my application. Now all the boat wants to do is just click like the battery is dead, but i know its not, the battery is brand new and fully charged, I have had a few problems already boat has sat for a year or more. I am just going from little thing to little thing. If any one has an idea let me know, i have read through the service manual and no help.
Let me know if any one knows.

Re: 4.3L Carb Question

The clicking you hear is it from the starter solenoid? First thing would be to clean the battery cable connections. Even if the choke is not hooked up the engine should turn over. Once we get the engine to turn over then we can tackle the wiring situation.

You didn't read that link I posted did you. A 4.3L engine in a 97 Rinker doesn't help at all.

Re: 4.3L Carb Question

Problem fixed, wire does not go to anything like i suspected, the starter was from a cable getting moved around when i relocated the battery. But thanks for the help.

Hope every one has a safe 4th remember the troops when your out having fun, and the soliders are out protecting your rights.
