4.3 MerCruiser using alot of gas soms times

I have 2008 4.3 seems to use more gas lately some times. It does not have a choke plate. Is there an electronic choke that could be sticking or any adjustment. It does hesitate some times on start up. I just did a tune up plugs, cap, rotor.

They have made a lot of 4.3's over the years with different carbs, EFI, distributors and many other things. Being a 2008 it might be TKS but could also be EFI, happen to have a serial number?

If it runs at idle kind of sluggish and not smooth, then my first thought is the TKS module is hanging and not closing off when it warms up

When cold there should be a hissing sound heard while the engine is warming up. The module should start warming up and in 6 to 10 minutes the hissing should stop. The module extends a plunger to seal off the port. In most cases the engine is hard to start once the engine is warm if the module does not close off. If it starts easy enough in both cases then it could be the carb needs a float level adjustment
