They're used a lot for cutting ceramic tile. So you'll be able to find them at any home centre. But the best prices on them are usually at discount tool stores. Up here I get mine at Princess Auto, I guess something like Harbour Freight would be where you would get it? Before you go shopping, make sure you know the arbor size of your grinder (5/8 or 7/8 usually).

There are two kinds of these discs (they all look like a smooth metal wheel), one with little slots cut in it, and others that are solid. You want the one with slots which is used for dry cutting. They're really quite amazing - try hitting a brick or a bit of stone with them.

I've only used common metal grinding wheels for grinding - the ones that are about 1/4" thick and say they're for ferrous metals. But I think a heavy grit flap disc might work really well too - maybe much better than a solid wheel. These are like a grinding wheel with a hundred little sheets of sandpaper glued to them.

flapper disks are amazing, as well as a good foam wheel with the hook and loop paper disks makes fairing alot easier. just try not to get into the original layup too much

Diamond wheels.. you can get them at Power Tool Sales on Angola Road or Cobra Equipment off the AW Trail. Best bet for grinding is either Performance Tool & Abrasives on Monroe Street or T & S Tool on Airport Highway. What you use for grinding depends on what you are grinding.Let me know

I think cutting out the rotting wood and a little of the good wood past the rotting stuff would be the advisable thing to do.

it's probably a control chase built into the hull by the mfgr. who used the same hull type for different topside finish. center console/ side console.

Re: 4 1/2 " grinder

Sorry been away for awhile. From what I have seen on further posts,if you want to cut, use a diamond blade, but if you want to grind, use a resin fibre disc. Grain of choice would be silicon carbide 24 grit, but in a resin fibre disc it is hard to find anymore. Aluminum oxide would be easier to find and would do o.k. If you want to know anything more specific either post it here or you can e-mail me at myklskc@msn.com
