Re: 3m 5200 on hands

Hi, I use the fast cure 5200. I have found that I am not able to get it all off but almost. What I do is wipe my hands down with acetone on a paper towel before it cures, this gets the bulk of it off. Then, to take more off, after the acetone I wash my hands with the "Fast Orange" (I think that is what it is called) hand cleaner that has pumice grit and a scrub brush. Like I said that does not get it all off but almost. The left over will come off with time.

Re: 3m 5200 on hands

I've found that using any of the pumice hand cleaners and adding additional sand (or road grit) creates more of a microdermabrashion-like adhesive remover then GoJo, Fast Orange or others solo. I get the cleaner in my left palm, add some additional grit, and firmly & thoroughly scrub both hands w/ the other for a couple minutes. It could be the additional friction caused by the added grit as much as it is the hand cleaner. Repeatedly wringing my hands, fingers & palms together. Once additional grit is added it becomes much more paste like & is easy to work back & forth on the areas w/ adhesive.

Works w/ both PL & Liquid Nails too, uncured & cured.

BTW: I don't recommend it, but eating fritos, cheetos, doritos or frenchfries, takes cured LiqNails off your fingers, even the last remaining black halo/staining in your fingerprints. <<< This may explain some of the drain bamage I've been accused of having:rolleyes:

BTW2: Be careful using strong solvents (acetone, MEK & others) on your skin for removal of glues, adhesives, paints & etc. Those products can easily be absorbed into your skin, and will often take what every you're trying to remove with them, into your bloodstream. None of that is good for you, repeatedly, or for any length of time. Even occasionally isn't good.

Congrats on getting the cap back on G.P.o.P.:) And for not being stuck to the boat...

Mineral spirts works wonders with 5200! But after getting enough on my hands and it eventually spreading around the boat, garage, and tools I always have throw away gloves on hand.

A roll of paper towels .. a qt of min sprites .. a small box ( to put your towels in ) and an empty bee..um..pop can to put your tip in when on deck is all you need ;) .

After the stuff cures on your hands .. its the oils in your body that gets it off after a good Loofa pad and soap.

Nothing else that I know of ..

x2 on the mineral spirits. Has always worked well for me. I always try to make sure to clean it off within a half hour max.
