3hp lightwin/yachtwin fuel screen

The shut off valve has a fuel screen/filter. I want to replace the one on my 1966 engine but can't locate a part number for the screen. I assume the screen can be purchased separate from the entire valve. Any suggestions for finding the part number?

if you don't mind doing a little soldering, then yes. Otherwise, you could find a good used set-up

I don't have a parts manual so don't know if the screen can be purchased separate from the valve assembly. The service manual says to replace if the screen is gummed up, but I'm not sure if this means replace the screen or the entire valve assembly. From what I can figure out, the part number for the entire assembly is 383688. The cost is about $35.00. I was hoping a screen could be purchased separately.

Perfect. It looks like the screen is available as a separate part. Part no. is 277187. Cost is $40.00 (ouch) at Marineengine.com and apparently isn't available at BPA.

Well, if you have an extra $40 bucks laying around, that is the way to go. The filter is soldered into the adapter fitting. Personally, I unsolder the filter from the fitting and solder in a roll of brass filter screen. If you want to do that, send me PM and I'll send you a piece of screen.

Or else take the screen out and put a small inline filter in the fuel line before the carb. I know you can get them.
