Bought a 1976 35hp Evinrude (Model 35653G).
Engine will run until you put it into gear. We have determined that the bottom cylinder is not igniting. It has fuel, and spark, with no ignition.
You can run the boat with the bottom spark plug wire disconnected, but not vise versa. Any time after running the engine, you can pull the spark plug from bottom cylinder and light a lighter by the spark plug hole and you will get fire. We have swapped all the coils, plugs, wires... Still runs the same.
Compression is fine.
Spark is hot.
Plenty of fuel.
Been looking for a solution all week. You guys have any ideas?
