350 ci Cam Question

HI All. I have a 1977 Sea Ray I'm reviving from a cracked block a few years ago. Originally it was powered with a 305 chevy and I purchased a 1968 327 engine from which I'm using the block, pistons and rods. I'm going to put the crank from the 305 in the 327 block which will essentially make it a 350 ci. My intention was to use all from the 305 I could because it was already a "Marine" setup. My problem is the cam. The one that was in the 305 was new right before I purchased the boat and barely had break-in wear on it however it only has about .4 lift and I cant find any replacement marine cams that have that little lift.

Can I use the 305 cam with the larger CI of the 350? (or better yet, should I?)

If not which cam would be suggested? I'm not looking for a race boat. I want something that pulls from idle to about 5K or 5500.

Thanks anyone for your assistance!

Re: 350 ci Cam Question

Merc use the SAME camshaft in both the 305 and the 350.... It has the same part number in drawings for both engines. So I guess you're good to use the 305 camshaft in the 350 engine....
